I can't believe there are still geeks saying that 28 Days Later is NOT a zombie movie. It IS a zombie movie, just with a more "realistic" approach. Would you say Cronos is not a vampire movie just because the vampires there are created by an alchemist's device instead of being the devil's minions?

The definition of the word "zombie" as you are describing it is just a product of popular culture and Romero's movies themselves, but Romero's movies don't really portray Zombies as in their real life counterpart, which are just normal people who were given some toxins by voo-doo priests. Romero added much to the definition that you know today and in fact, his zombies don't really share many similarities with the zombies in haitian mythos. The 28 Days Later movies share all the similarities of any other zombie movie, except that the infected weren't brought back to life. They are just more realistic zombie movies, but they ARE zombie movies.

According to your logic, White Zombie and I Walked With A Zombie are NOT zombie movies despite having the word zombie in the title. And The Serpent And The Rainbow has no zombies in it despite them being referred to as zombies. While Night of the Living Dead IS a zombie movie despite them only ever being referred to as "ghouls" or "those things", and never once mentioning the word zombie.
