0Devlet Bahçeli (born 1948) is a leader of MHP which nationalist party in Turkey
Born in 1948 in Osmaniye, he also attended the primary school there, but moved to Istanbul for his secondary education. Bahçeli received his higher education from the scientific academy in Ankara and his doctorate from the Gazi University in Ankara.
In 1987, Bahçeli became a member of the board of the Nationalist Task Party (MÇP), which later became the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). Following the death of its leader, Alparslan Türkeş, in 1997, he became the chairman. From 1999 to 2002, Bahçeli served as Deputy Prime Minister. -

0n 1965, Alparslan Türkeş gained control of the conservative-rural Republican Villager Nation Party (Turkish: Cumhuriyetçi Köylü Millet Partisi, CKMP). In 8–9 February 1969, Extraordinary Great Congress at Adana he changed the name of the party to Nationalist Movement Party.
The party embraced Turkish nationalism, imbued with a mythology that suggests all Turks share a common ancestry. Under the leadership of Alparslan Türkeş militias connected to the party were responsible for assassinating many left-leaning people during the 1970s.[5] The leader of the party's youth wing, the Grey Wolves, boasted that they had an intelligence organization superior to the state's.[6]
When the Turkish army seized power on September 12, 1980 by a coup led by Kenan Evren, the party was banned along with all other active political parties at the time, and many of its leading members were imprisoned. Many prominent members joined neo-liberal Anavatan Partisi or various Islamist currents. A party member (Agâh Oktay Güner) wryly noted that the party's ideology was in power while its members were in prison.
The party later was refounded in 1983 as the Conservative Party (Turkish: Muhafazakar Parti). After in 1985, the name was changed to the Nationalist Task Party (Turkish: Milliyetçi Çalışma Partisi) and back again to its former name in 1992.[7][non-primary source needed] In 1993, Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and five other deputies separated and founded the Great Union Party, which is an ultra nationalist and Islamist one.[8] -

0When he died, it was revealed that he had embezzled 2 trillion lira from the European Turkish Federation. The pan-Turkist group had created a secret slush fund to support the Second Chechen War and Ebulfeyz Elçibey in Azerbaijan.[13] The money was formerly administered by Enver Altaylı, who had been implicated in the Azerbaijan coup plot. His daughters, Ayzıt and Umay Günay, quarreled over who was the rightful owner (legally, neither of them).[14] The two appeared before the Ankara 7th High Penal Court for fraud. The indictment said that Türkeş' account in a U.K. branch of the Deutsche Bank held 575,000 DM, 845,000 USD, and 367,000 GBP.[15] The court concluded that Ayzıt had withdrawn 200,000 GBP while Umay Günay had withdrawn 42,000 GBP.[16]
Ayzıt said that she had been living in the U.K. since 1975, and that her father opened the account in 1988, giving her complete access to it. She said that her father had instructed her to fulfill his financial obligations (in support of "the cause of Turkishness") upon his death by making certain payments.[17] Türkeş' second wife, Seval, refuted Ayzıt's claim that she had not kept the money to herself. Seval claims that she and her sons' Ayyüce and Ahmet Kutalmış share of the withdrawn 242,000 GBP is 112,355 GBP.[16]
The MHP's chairman, Devlet Bahçeli, instructed his deputies to keep mum, fearing that the scandal could lead to the dissolution of the party.[18]
The case was closed due to the statute of limitations.[19] -
