    it's true, and that's why there are so many people complaining about being friend-zoned all the time. if person a doesn't find person b attractive, it's not person a's "fault", and he/she shouldn't be blamed for "not giving people a chance" or whatever. i have little to no control over who i'm attracted to. if you fall into the unattractive category for me, it's just not happening. the way a lot of people look at relationships and dating doesn't seem to take any of this into account.
